The recipient of all four awards is the Clifford Chance ‘Sustainable Recruitment Alliance’ film, which won two Gold Dolphins in the Environmental Issues and HR categories, one Silver Dolphin for Corporate Image and the prestigious Black Dolphin for Best Editing.

The film showcases Clifford Chance Graduate Recruitment’s approach to improving their sustainability and showcases the launch of the Sustainable Recruitment Alliance, of which they are one of the founding partners. On recognising the cumulative impact of traditional recruitment methods on the environment, they set about implementing drastic changes to their procedures which included reducing the amount of merchandise they produce and seeking out more environmentally-friendly alternatives.

We were excited to make a film that told this story in a fresh, engaging way. The film focusses on the ‘evolution of the pen’. One that is sustainably sourced and made from fermented sugar rather than plastic.

The film starts with the invention of the pen by the Egyptians, before flashing forward to World War II, when Lazlo Biro invented the ballpoint pen, leading to the present day when 38,000,000,000 cheap, plastic biros are sold every year.

Our film finishes with a call to action encouraging other firms to join the alliance which is designed to encourage recruiters from all industries to review their own processes and think about the ways they can modify their existing practices to become more sustainable and carbon-friendly.
