The Brief for Clifford Chance Spark Scheme

Clifford Chance wanted to position itself as a law firm with a difference, which meant our film couldn’t simply inform potential applicants about its Spark graduate scheme: it needed to be distinct and unique in comparison to standard recruitment films.

Clifford Chance is looking for applicants with powerful CVs and exciting stories: you could be a coder, a musician, or an athlete… you certainly don’t need to have a background in law. Our film needed to exemplify this, as well as explain the benefits of the scheme and sell the appeal of a career at Clifford Chance.

Text

Every law firm in the world says its people are what makes it special. Our goal was to extricate this message from a reconstructed expectation of it to be a convenient PR strategy, and prove that for Clifford Chance, it is actually true.

Our Approach

Text and Visual

Clifford Chance is increasingly interested in people who don’t conform to the lawyer stereotype.  To show this, we interviewed a diverse range of current and future Clifford Chance employees, delving into their personal interests and stories.

In order to appeal to young people who might not have thought of a career in law, we decided the film should be cinematic and feel like a documentary.

The film follows Tyra, Adam and Ollie, three alumni on Clifford Chance’s Spark graduate scheme, as they show us their passions outside of work. The result is a compelling insight into three exceptional young people and a recruitment film that is undoubtedly different from the rest.

Text

“Not only did this film challenge the conventions in legal recruitment marketing, it has provided us with fantastic results and exceeded all of our expectations. The film has been instrumental in increasing the number of graduate applications we’ve received, as well as the prestigious award we received from Target Jobs, the first time we’ve won this in 13 years.”
